Osteoporosis is a condition of low bone mass and poor bone quality leading to an increased risk of fracture. It is diagnosed with a bone mineral density scan and medical history. Osteoporosis-related fractures are most likely to occur in the wrist, hip, and spine.
Treatment for osteoporosis includes physical activity, a healthy diet including calcium and vitamin D supplements, and medications.
